Dettol is an antiseptic used for disinfectant our bathing water. Dettol can be used to kill germs in our bathing water. Potentially harmful germs on the skin are killed when we add Dettol to our bathing water. It can also be used to treat wounds and wash the surfaces of our kitchens. Here you will  be shown  how to make Dettol using simple chemicals that are available in the market.

Follow the formula below to produce 3 liters of quality spirit based antiseptic.

Procedure/ Methodology

STEP 1: Get a mixing bowl that can adequately contain 3 liters and allow you to stir the mixture you will be producing.

STEP 2: Add 1/16 kg texapon and 1/16 kg phenol into your main mixing bowl and stir it well to dissolve.

STEP 3: Add 300ml pine oil into the mixture in step 2 and stir it well to blend

STEP 4: Add 250ml of chloroxylenol into the mixture and stir it well for 10 minutes to blend

STEP 5: Add 2 ½ liters of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) little by little into the mixture and stir it well to blend for 15 minutes. 

Remain about 20ml of IPA to mix your color with. 

STEP 6: Mix your color with the 20ml IPA since you can’t add water in this production.

Stir your color well to blend then add into the mixture and stir well to blend for 10 minutes.

NOTE: Leave your production to settle well for at least 6 hours then you can package into your containers for use as desired.
