The first pape;">The first paper that is issued out after land surveyors have completed a field survey of a layout is called OFFER OF GRANT. This is also refers to as CONVEYANCE OF PROVISSIONAL APPROVAL. This paper is the right of occupancy granted to you in respect of a plot whose plot number and
dimensions are on the offer paper. The paper also has the following contents.

what do we mean by Purpose
This clearly specifies the purpose for the land you are buying. In other words what do you intend to use your land for? Please I want you to note that Development and Control unit of department of land are very strict about purpose of land. I have seen where many buildings at their finished stages were pulled down owing to abuse of purpose. Do not use residential purpose for hotel or filling station. That will amount to gross abuse of purpose and no amount of begging will solve that situation. This is one of the major areas that is causing serious problems now in Abuja, leading to demolition of buildings and loss of properties worth millions of naira.
If you do not know what you intend to use your land for when you buy, then it is advisable that you go for multipurpose because that can serve all purposes. When you go to land office (AGIS), the officers in charge will tell you how to go about it but you will pay for every single process involved.
